Solar Winter School 2024
The sponsorship chair SciDoSol within the center Observation, Impacts, Energy (OIE) of MINES Paris - PSL, organized
the Solar Winter School at the Campus Pierre Laffitte (Sophia Antipolis, France) during the week of March 11-15,
2024.
Over 60 engineers, master's students, and PhD candidates from academia and industry participated in a dynamic and
engaging 5-day training program focused on solar resource assessment and forecasting.
The training included hands-on use of in-situ pyranometers, fisheye cameras, satellite imaging systems, numerical
weather and atmospheric models, as well as life cycle assessment of the environmental impacts of photovoltaic (PV)
systems.
Main activities :
- Lectures on the latest advancements in solar irradiance modelling and forecasting
 - Practical workshops on pyranometric measurements and solar forecasting techniques
 - Networking sessions to further collaboration and knowledge sharing
