Solar Winter School 2025

The sponsorship chair SciDoSol within the center Observation, Impacts, Energy (OIE) of MINES Paris - PSL, is organizing the Solar Winter School at the Campus Pierre Laffitte (Sophia Antipolis, France), during the week of 10-14 March 2025.

This third edition of Solar Winter School discuss: 

  • basics of solar modeling,
  • in-situ pyranometric measurements,
  • solar resource assessment and forecasting based on Earth Observation with satellites, numerical weather models and chemical transport models, and in-situ measurements.

This week will be composed of courses, practical works, one masterclasse on Python-based solar processing and forecasting, and social, networking and experience-sharing sessions.

The target audiences are post-graduate or graduate Master and PhD students, researchers, and engineers in the domain of solar radiation and solar energy.

Prerequisites for Master class

For properly benefiting from the "Master class on solar assessment and forecasting", please respect the following prerequisites:

  • Minimal understanding of Python coding (numpy, panda)
  • Having a lap top that can has WiFi access (no preinstalling required)

Registration fees

  • free for students, including social dinner on March 12th (if registered until December 1st 2024)
  • 750 € for other profiles (includes the social dinner) - 10% off for early-bird registration (deadline December 1st 2024)

During SWS, a daily cold buffet will be proposed every day for lunch, with a daily fixed price for all participants. Remaining meals and accommodation are the responsibility of the participants
